Durham Dales Parish Nursing

The vison of the churches in Teesdale and Weardale, Durham Dales Parish Nursing aims be a trusted, local project for people to access consistent mental health support, where they can share and receive understanding around emotional and spiritual needs.

We aim for mental health to become a more talked about subject in rural areas, with reduced stigma around asking for support, and for people to learn how to manage their own mental health. Parish nurses will link individuals in with existing community activities to improve their health day to day and grow their support networks, reducing reliance on statutory services and taking a holistic approach to mental health.

Lord Crewe’s Charity has funded the project start up costs for two years and the first Parish Nurse will begin work in July 2023.
